Advancing Community Accountability: TB Network Leads Validation of CLM SOPs in Nigeria Abuja, Nigeria | 20 May 2026 Stakeholders from government institutions, civil society, and implementing partners gathered in Abuja to validate Nigeria’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Community-Led Monitoring (CLM), a key step toward strengthening community accountability and improving health service delivery. The engagement, convened by TB Network with support from The Global Fund under the National Tuberculosis, Leprosy and Buruli Ulcer Control Programme (NTBLCP), brought together key national health agencies including National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA), National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP), National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), and Institute of Human Virology Nigeria (IHVN), among others. Participants reviewed and validated the CLM SOPs to ensure alignment with national priorities, donor expectations, and community realities. The process reinforced CLM as a structured approach for generating evidence that improves service quality, strengthens accountability, and promotes people-centered health systems. Key discussions highlighted the need for stronger integration of community-generated data into national systems, improved coordination across states, and increased visibility and recognition of Community-Based Organizations in health service monitoring. Stakeholders are also committed to strengthening documentation, expanding stakeholder engagement, and supporting youth-led and community organizations to enhance participation in monitoring processes. The validated SOPs will guide standardized implementation of CLM across supported states and support more effective, transparent, and sustainable health system accountability in Nigeria. ????
